Alice in Wonderland Poppy’s Alice in Wonderland dress is a lovely traditional dress. Simple and comfortable to wear and smart enough for a wedding or a party. The Alice dress is built to withstand daily rough and tumble, we encourage our dresses to be worn not just for Sunday-best but for everyday. We like Poppy girls to get as much wear out of their favorite Poppy dresses as possible so we have designed the Alice dress to start off at about ankle length with plenty of room around the waist for a little growth. The little sash at the back allows the dress to be pulled or loosened. Each Poppy dress comes with a free storybook so you can follow Poppy & Fred’s escapades, this Summer Poppy and Fred are off to the seaside for another adventure! All our dresses are handmade here in the UK and designed by poppy.

This little shirt makes a great party shirt. The tiny vehicles in beep beep are full of humour. The design will delight children and adults alike. A great introduction to Poppy the bags make lovely gifts and show off the strength and durability of our fabrics. All the bags are made here in the UK. We design the fabric ourselves, print it here in the North West and sew them up in North Yorkshire, this way you know your getting something truly British. Little girls just love little bags and it is the perfect way to finish off an outfit. A great place to put spare shoes, pens and pencils and of course one of our colouring books to match. We have designed the bags to take the storybook, colouring book and a set of colour-in cards to make a lovely and unusual present to occupy little hands and minds.

Knitted Summer Coat

This Knitted Coat by POPPY is hand knitted in 100% cotton, machine washable and suitable for any climate, it looks great over one of Poppy’s summer dresses! We like POPPY girls to get as much wear as possible out of their Poppy clothes so we have designed this coat to begin long,made with plenty of room around the waist and extra length in the arms (that are designed to be turned up) so as the child grows, so as the child grows the coat tuns into a cardigan. Our knitwear is made under the guidelines of fair trade, high up in the Himalayas and we provide a valuable source of income for women who work at home while bringing up their children.

How pretty is this delightful dress! Just right for so many occasions but not too formal to have to be only for sunday best. Poppy and Fred are up to mischief at a birthday party on the border which runs round the hem of the dress and the storybook that comes with each one tells the tale of their exploits. The sash pulls the dress in at the waist to give a good fit and appealing shape.

Gypsy caravan is a delightful design which we have pulled out of the Poppy archive. The drawings are by Penny Simon who was well known locally for her very appealing children's book illustrations. The Martha style is easy to fit and can be dressed up for sunday best or worn as an every day dress. The dresses are all tougher and more durable than they look and they will wear well for years and years. This pretty colourway matches our red knitwear so cosy outfits to suit all weathers can be put together. The scalloped edged cardigan is designed to go over our dresses and sit short to the waist so the lovely full skirt is shown to the full.

We have made a few dresses from the Poppy archive in this delightful design. Penny has drawn children from around the world around the border and then written the word peace in lots of languages among the cosmic images. We think it is an inspirational design with a great message. The dresses go really well with our natural knitwear and the unusual colours are printed on unbleached cotton. Our short cardigans are designed to come to the waist so the dresses always show the lovely shape and fullness of the skirt.

The Millie dress is a favourite of mine, it has had much attention recently as it was featured in Easy living and Country living. The simple collar gives a retro look to the dress. Like most of our dresses it starts of wide and pulls into fit around the waist. Easy to wash and wear, this dress will become a firm favorite. The Millie dress makes a great birthday dress, wear with a t-shirt or one of our little shirts underneath to give a great look. It even comes with a little storybook telling the latest adventure of the characters around the hem of the dress. Poppy is having her birthday party and Fred her dog is getting up to mischief. This is a beautiful dress and the older children get the more they enjoy swishing about and making it twirl. Buttons on the bodice means it opens up to slip on and the straps are made long so that you can adjust them if need be. The fine cotton voile sewn in petticoat gives the dress a luxurious feel.
